Babi Badalov at Gandy Gallery

Bratislava, 6 June 2011, Art Media Agency (AMA).

The Gandy Gallery is featuring artist Babi Badalov in “I am orna – mental”, hosted in Bratislava from 8 June to 30 July 2011.

Badalov Babakhan Boyukxan Oglu, known as Babi Badalov, was born in 1959 in Lerik, Azerbaijan, and currently lives in Paris. A poet and visual artist, Badalov served two years in the Soviet army before becoming a full-fledged artist. He integrates words into his collages, making them look like diaries. His days as a soldier and his art are profoundly linked.

Badalov participated in the 54th Venice Biennale, in an event entitled “I Miss My Enemies.” He exhibited with Jota Castro, Marc Vincent Kalinka, Steve Piccolo, Adrian Paci, Bert Theis and Kirill Chelushkin, under the supervision of Oxana Maleeva, curator of the exhibition. “I Miss My Enemies” engages with the “one-way” aspects of society. The name of the event is eloquent and proves that social networks are intended only for meeting new friends.
