London, 2 August 2011, Art Media Agency (AMA).
Candlestar presents an exhibition of prints by Sir Peter Blake (1932-), the master of British Pop Art, at Hyatt Regency in London. “Peter Blake – In Print” will be running until 11 October 2011.
Hyatt Regency London is situated on 30 Portman Square and is a luxurious hotel, which will be hosting its sixth Candlestar exhibition. This is the first time the company focuses on the work of only one artist, organising a retrospective exhibition about Blake by showcasing his prints.
Peter Blake studied at the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 1956. His first works were dominated by fantasy elements drawn from the world of circuses. He then painted and made collages inspired by British popular culture. He also used well-known images of celebrities, such as James Dean and Elvis Presley. During the 1960’s, Peter Blake along with Richard Hamilton (1922-) became the two best known British Pop artists. Blake is known for his limited edition prints and designing the cover of the Beatles album Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
