Cecily Brown at Gagosian Gallery in Rome

Rome, 19 December 2011, Art Media Agency (AMA).

Cecily Brown is currently being hosted at Gagosian gallery in Rome, displaying her latest works, until 31 December. Brown is not tied with a particular genre or movement, she however reinvents the works of great masters from the past and creates oil paintings that explore “the breadth of human experiences”. With her own pictorial aesthetic, her dynamism of the layers and the effect of her materials, Brown captures the greatest moments of art history, from Renaissance masters such as Brueghels or Rubens to great modern artists such as Willem de Kooning.

Brown studied at Slade School in London and currently lives and works in New York. Her works have been displayed in numerous prestigious institutions, including Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum of New York, Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Tate Gallery in London,  Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Museum of Contemporary Art of Hannover in 2010. Gagosian Gallery has represented Brown for twelve years and has dedicated several exhibitions to her in London and New York. However, this is the first exhibition of the artist at the famous gallery in Rome, open since 2008.
