New York, 9 February 2012, Art Media Agency (AMA).

Adel Abdessemed’s next solo exhibition “Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf” will take place at the David Zwirner gallery in New York from 17 February to 17 March 2012.

“Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf” is Abdessemed’s second solo exhibition since he joined the David Zwirner gallery in 2008. It brings together recent works by the artist, which deal with themes such as war, violence, and bearing witness to all of these things. Works will be displayed at both of the gallery’s exhibition spaces on New York’s 19th Avenue.

Adel Abdessemed was born in the town of Constantine in Algeria, and studied at the Fine Art Schools of Algiers and Lyon. His first exhibition in the United States was titled “RIO”, and also took place at the David Zwirner gallery in 2009. He has also been exhibited in London, Toronto (2010), Turin (2009) and Grenoble (2008), and has featured in many group exhibitions, such as the 52th Venicee Biennial. His works also form part of international collections such as those of the George Pompidou Centre, the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

A large retrospective of the artist’s work is scheduled to take place at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in October 2012.
