Expo Chicago 2012

Chicago, the 17 September 2012. Art Media Agency (AMA).

The modern and contemporary art fair, Expo Chicago 2012, organized from the 20 to the 23 September 2012 at the Navy Pier’s Festival Hall, should gather more than a hundred national and international galleries.

Expo Chicago’s vocation is the redefinition of the Midwest’s artictic experience. Produced by Art Expositions, LLC under the direction of President and Director Tony Karman, Expo Chicago 2012 will present an entirely new interior, renovated by the Studio Gang Architects, with architect Jeanne Gang.

Karman began in the art business in 1983 when working as a security agent at the Art Chicago : “I didn’t know what I wanted to be. But Art Chicago was such an exciting place, I made myself so indispensible that they had to hire me”. He then got promoted in Chicago’s cultural world, until he became the fair’s vice president. Karman gives a hint of the meeting’s spirit in the Chicago Magazine : “I’m hoping it will be a place where folks can come and have relaxed conversations,” he explains. “It’s loose and real, and it’s not packaged. I love spaces like this.”

The new artistic fair opens its doors in the automn and transforms Chicago, for the occasion, in a major point of artistic and cultural meeting. EXPOSURE, dedicated to emerging contemporary art galleries, opened since at least five years, opens this year a space that should welcome twenty galleries.

The preview will be on Wednesday, September 19th at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago.
