The James Cohan Gallery announced that from now on it will represent the artist Spencer Finch. Based in Brooklyn, he uses different media in its works like painting, sculpture and drawing.
In 2007, he took part in MASS MoCA and presented the exhibition “What Time Is It On the Sun?”. His recent works include Air Painting, an installation made expressly for the RISD Museum, where a mural painting inspired by Monet and deformed by one hundred suspended glass panels is shown. Likewise, at the Chicago Art Institute, with Lunar, he uses sun energy to reproduce the light effect of a full moon. He has now a permanent installation on the High Line called The River That Flows Both Ways, which uses 700 coloured glasses to represent a 700 minutes trip on the Hudson river.
