George Lucas, the director of world famous Star Wars, wishes to open a museum dedicated to storytelling from its beginnings until nowadays. It should be located in the Presidio National Park in San Francisco. The Presidio will choose one project that best suits its environment.
To bring the project to life, the director mentioned a grant of $300m for the museum’s construction, $400m to cover its future expenses and artworks issued from his private collection, a total value exceeding $300m.
In fact, Lucas’s idea was selected among one of three finalists from a total of sixteen projects. The two other ideas were: a performance and exhibition space project submitted by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and an ecology centre, an idea of the Chora Group located in Washington.
