Paris, 20 April 2012, Art Media Agency (AMA).
The Musée du Quai Branly will display the exhibition “The Seductions of the Palate” from 19 June to 30 September 2012, about table traditions in China, in collaboration with the National Museum of China and the Musée national des Arts asiatiques-Guimet.
Centred on the two themes of “cooking and eating in China”, the exhibition will underline 7,000 years of culinary traditions, good manners and even the art of everyday china dinnerware through the ages, over the dynasties. From the first ritual offerings under the Shang to the pieces of porcelain under Emperor Qianlong (18th century), without forgetting the gold and silver tableware under the Tang dynasty (618-907), the exhibition will enable visitors to discover an ancestral art from the Middle Empire.
The event will comprise two mains phases: a first phase focusing on history followed by a different approach of Chinese cooking, in its geographical location.
