Baku, 26 January 2012, Art Media Agency (AMA).
A new art gallery opened in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on 30 December 2011. Named “LN Art centre”, the gallery is under the management of artist Aysel Amirova and aims to promote local artists, to train new talent and to provide support to artists in organising exhibitions abroad. Artists will be selected by a jury.
Azerbaijan is a former Soviet Republic, at the crossroads between Europe and Asia. The country is known for its dynamic contemporary art community, of which Azerbaijan’s minister of Culture and Tourism is to take full advantage of in the promotion of the country. This determination to promote Azerbaijan was manifested in France in April 2011, when the Baku Museum of Contemporary Art put on an exhibition at the Hôtel d’Évreux in Paris entitled “Modern Works from Azerbaijan, land of Fire”.
In order to mark its opening, the LN Art Centre has organised an exhibition of 30 Azerbaijani artists, both established and emerging.
