The third edition of the Contemporary Art Triennial of Paris will take place from 20 April to 26 August 2012. Although it will take place on the Palais de Tokyo’s new premises, six Parisian art institutions ─ Bétonsalon, the Crédac, Galliera, the Instants Chavirés, the Aubervilliers Laboratories and the Louvre Museum ─ are partners and will welcome exhibitions.
Formerly named The art force and until now displayed at the Grand Palais, the Contemporary Art Triennial has been completely revamped this year. Entitled “Intense Proximity”, the project was entrusted to Okwui Enwezor, an art critic from Niger. Under this concept, the demonstration opens its exploration scope by highlighting the relations between creation in France and other international artistic centres.
In June 2009, Libération wrote that the Grand Palais registered 67 286 visitors in 34 days, a daily average of 1 979 while Christine Albanel, Minister for Culture and Communication of the time, had declared that the Triennial had attracted “107,000 visitors.”
