The Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, Florida, announced the appointment of Carol McCusker as Curator of Photography.
After receiving a $1.5 million gift from the Mary Ann Harn Cofrin family, the Harn Museum welcomes the former professor and Curator of Photography at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego from 2001-2010 to the newly endowed curator position.
McCusker holds a Ph.D. and a M.A. in Art History and the History of Photography from the University of New Mexico, a B.F.A. in Art History and Studio Art from the Massachusetts College of Art and specialises in history of photography and cinema, modern and postmodern cultural studies, 20th century popular culture, mass media, documentary photography, and film.
The Harn Museum’s photography collection contains around 1,000 works ranging from daguerreotypes and other mid-19th century images to large-scale contemporary color works by artists such as Jerry N. Uelsmann, Edward Weston, Diane Arbus, Minor White, Wynn Bullock, Richard Misrach, Cindy Sherman, Carrie Mae Weems, Robert Adams, Ana Mendieta, Louise Lawler, Dan Graham, Catherine Opie, Nan Goldin, Roni Horn, Allan Sekula, Sergio Vega, Andrea Robbins, Max Becher, and Sol LeWitt.
