Lyon, 15 February 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA).
From 15 February to 14 April, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon will present an exhibition of Latifa Echakhch, 2013 Marcel Duchamp Prize nominee.
Most commonly works by Latifa Echakhch are installations related to the space in which she creates them mixed with presonal, historical and sociological references. For this exhibition titled “Laps”, the artist took over the whole level of the museum’s building and prepared a stroll composed of “personal landscapes”.
Subtlety and the poetic dimension of her work captured the attention of the Marcel Duchamp Prize committee. “I like words and words’ space, but I feel more comfortable using objects and materials. With the words the intrusion is more direct, more intimate. Though, if I didn’t become an artist I would have become a poet” – sums up Latifa Echakhch.
Latifa Echakhch is represented by the Kamel Mennour Gallery in Paris. Her next solo show, starting on 24 February, will be held in the Kunsthaus in Zurich.
