“Nuit blanche New York 2011”

New York, 16 September 2011, Art Media Agency (AMA)

Following the layout of the “nuits blanches” in Paris, Brussels and Toronto, “Nuit blanche New York 2011” will take place on 1 October in Brooklyn.

This is the second time that New York will be organising the event, which was first held in Paris ten years ago. “Nuit blanche New York 2011” is an arts organisation that specialises in supporting artists to produce night–time public art events that engage creative communities. It was founded in the summer of 2010 by a handful of artists working in film, urban planning, music, curation and product design who shared a passion for transforming the way we experience urban space. Ethan Vogt is the current director of the association and is in charge of overseeing the event and its fifty–odd artistic installations.

Richard Serra, Liz Diller & Ricardo Scofidio, Rita Ackermann and Chakaia Booker feature among artists, designers, film producers, writers and musicians. Highlights include artist Daniel Canogar, who will propose a giant projection of visitors disembarking a ferry and Camille Scherrer with a mystical themed installation. Various conferences will also take place alongside the event, on 26 and 27 September.
