Dallas, 6 May 2013, Art Media Agency (AMA).
The Dallas Museum of Art is displaying from 5 May to 6 October 2013 Greek and Roman art items issued from the collections of the British Museum.
The exhibition titled “The Body Beautiful in Ancient Greece: Masterworks from the British Museum” features over 120 objects exploring the theme of the human body through the Greek and Roman art collections of the famous London institution.
The event stresses the Ancient Greek culture and its fascination with the human form. Marble and bronze works, vessels, funerary objects and jewellery will be on display at the Dallas Museum.
The exhibition is divided into ten thematic sections illustrating the various representations of the human body. Among the works on display, the famous Diskobolos, a sculpture wrought in the 2nd century A.D., will be exhibited in the United States for the first time. A video will provide illustrations of the original Olympic sites and ancient sports events.
